Melissa A. Bell is an associate with the law firm of Emalfarb Swan & Bain, which acts as general counsel to National Lien & Bond Claim Systems.

Ms. Bell’s areas of construction law practice include mechanics liens, bond claims, contract review and state and federal litigation.  Ms. Bell is an experienced litigator, having exclusively handled litigation in the Family Law arena for four (4) years before joining ESB’s construction law practice.     

Ms. Bell earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law where she served as the elected liaison between the Student Bar and Chicago Bar Associations.  In addition to participation in student government, Ms. Bell published a sport’s law article in the 2000-2001 edition of the DePaul University College of Law Arts & Entertainment Journal concerning the Muhammed Ali Boxing Reform Act.  Ms. Bell earned her B.A., with honors, from Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in English and minoring in Russian and Legal Studies.  While at Washington University, Ms. Bell attended the prestigious Oxford University in Oxford England for her spring, 1997 semester. 

Prior to joining Emalfarb Swan & Bain, Ms. Bell was an associate with prominent divorce firms in Chicago, Illinois.
