Peter G. Swan was born in Park Forest, Illinois in 1959. Mr. Swan graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois and graduated from Law School at Loyola University in Chicago in 1984. Peter G. Swan was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1984.
Peter G. Swan is licensed to practice before the United Stated Supreme Court, United States Federal Appellate Court, United States Federal District Court, the Court of Claims. The United States Tax Court and all courts within the State of Illinois. Mr. Swan initially practiced insurance and surety defense litigation in Chicago, and participated in the drafting of Department of Energy approved alternate energy source construction and development contracts. Mr. Swan has extensive experience in maritime shipping law, and the defense of maritime personal injury suits.
Since Peter G. Swan began his partnership with Hal A. Emalfarb, he co-authored a national chapter in a Treatise on construction law for Matthew Bender publications on MODIFICATION AND TERMINATION OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS, and a chapter on Federal Rule of Evidence 604 in the American Bar Association’s Evidence Treatise. He also contributed to ILLINOIS CONSTRUCTION LAW, published in 1990, for Shepard's McGraw-Hill Publications, a complete treatise on Illinois Construction Law issues authored by Hal A. Emalfarb.
Mr. Swan has had extensive experience in public and private Mechanics’ lien litigation, construction litigation, Truth in Lending Act Defense, Retaliatory Discharge, ERISA litigation and other labor and commercial issues. Most recently, Mr. Swan has successfully argued before the Illinois Appellate Court to clarify the standard of proof relating to enforcement of Mechanic Lien Claims in Illinois. Mr. Swan, has extensive trial and appellate experience in commercial litigation as well as extensive commercial transaction experience, representing and establishing Corporation, Limited Liability Companies, Joint Ventures, as well as General and Limited Partnerships.
